Coach Anderson is currently in his 4th year as Offensive Coordinator at Staples High School where he began as an Assistant Lacrosse Coach in 2016. He has been the offensive Coordinator since 2019 and prior to the 2022 season he was named the Associate Head Coach. During the 2022 season the team averaged 15.27 goals per game, the best mark in the program’s 42-year history, with nine different players scoring more than 30 points. The 2022 team was named the #1 Team in CT, the #11 Team in the Country, and the #1 Public HS Team in the country by Inside Lacrosse. Staples was also named CHSCA Team of the Year. Under Steve’s guidance Charlie Howard broke records for most goals in a season in 2021 and again in 2022 and the most points in a season in Staples History in 2022. During Steve’s varsity tenure at Staples, he has coached 19 All FCIAC, 3 All State, and 3 All Americans on the offensive end. Previously, he was an Assistant Lacrosse Coach at Notre Dame – West Haven High School for 8 years and for 1 year at Trumbull High School where he won a Division 2 State Championship in 2005. He is also the Freshman Football Coach at Staples High School.
In addition, Steve brings tons of experience coaching youth sports, having coached over 30 different youth teams over the last 18 years. He currently coaches the Westport PAL youth league for lacrosse and football where he helps coach teams and helps with off season clinics. He was an All FCIAC athlete himself for Trumbull High School for both football and lacrosse and continued playing lacrosse at the University of New Haven. Steve lives in Milford with his wife Dana, their two children Brayden and Tessa, and their dog Maya.
