Jay Robbins - Head Coach

Jay Robbins was a 4 year starter at midfield and the face-off specialist for the Division I lacrosse team at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA. While attending UMass the team made it to the NCAA tournament his sophomore and senior years. Upon graduation Jay was the assistant lacrosse coach for New England College in Henniker, NH.  At Darien High School Jay was instrumental in Darien’s first-ever FCIAC Championship lacrosse season in 1992. He was first team All-FCIAC, All-State, All-American, Team Captain and Team MVP his senior year. He played fullback and middle linebacker for the two-time State Champion football teams in ’91 and ’92 and named first team All-FCIAC. Jay was also All-FCIAC, All-State and Captain of the indoor track team finishing 2nd in the state in hurdles and the 4x200 relay.  Jay began coaching youth lacrosse in Darien while he was still a senior in high school. He has coached various teams and clinics since then, most recently the Darien 8th grade A team.  Jay lives in Darien with wife


Sean Hickey - Assistant Coach

Sean Hickey is a former attackman at Salisbury University under the NCAA’s most winningest coach, Jim Berkman. In 2010, Hickey was awarded the NCAA Elite 88 Award at the DIII National Championship.  He transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill where he double majored in Economics and Italian. His Senior year, he became the Assistant Varsity Coach for the East Chapel Hill Lacrosse Team, leading them to the State Tournament. In 2013, he returned to his hometown as a volunteer Offensive Coach for Nationally Ranked Smithtown East on Long Island, where he coached 3 HS All-Americans.  In HS, he was named All-County, Smithtown East Captain and MVP in 2008, having led the team in points and assists. As a top player for the FCA U.S. National Team in 2007, he competed against Canada among the best HS players in North America.  

Hickey has coached top Select Teams, and has worked to grow the game internationally in Brazil, Italy and Ireland. He brings over 7 years of lacrosse coaching and training experience, to the Eclipse Program.  

Chace Calkin - Assistant Coach 

Chace Calkin is the current Lacrosse Director at Chelsea Piers in Stamford, CT. and former assistant coach at Sacred Heart University.  Under his guidance, SHU had two of the top six faceoff specialists in the Northeast Conference in 2016 in Jake Giaquinto and Mike Calvagna. Giaquinto was an NEC All-Rookie team selection last season, winning 52.8% of his faceoffs.  Calkin came to Sacred Heart after serving as the graduate assistant at John Carroll University in its first year as an NCAA Division III program. With Calkin on staff coaching offense and face-offs, John Carroll went 13-4 in 2014. Calkin played three seasons at the University of Denver and was a member of two NCAA Final Four teams. The Pioneers won the 2011 ECAC regular-season championship as well as the 2011 and 13 ECAC Tournament championships.  A 2009 graduate of Mullen High School in Denver, Colorado Calkin was a 2009 US Lacrosse All-American and team MVP.
