Jay Robbins - Head Coach

Jay Robbins was a 4 year starter at midfield and the face-off specialist for the Division I lacrosse team at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst, MA. While attending UMass the team made it to the NCAA tournament his sophomore and senior years. Upon graduation Jay was the assistant lacrosse coach for New England College in Henniker, NH.  At Darien High School Jay was instrumental in Darien’s first-ever FCIAC Championship lacrosse season in 1992. He was first team All-FCIAC, All-State, All-American, Team Captain and Team MVP his senior year. He played fullback and middle linebacker for the two-time State Champion football teams in ’91 and ’92 and named first team All-FCIAC. Jay was also All-FCIAC, All-State and Captain of the indoor track team finishing 2nd in the state in hurdles and the 4x200 relay.  Jay began coaching youth lacrosse in Darien while he was still a senior in high school. He has coached various teams and clinics since then, most recently the Darien 8th grade A team.  Jay lives in Darien with wife


At Eclipse Lacrosse Club, we announce all the current college players who will be helping coach our teams after the NCAA season as completed.  Each year, Eclipse lacrosse club has over 25 current college players help throughout the summer.  Many of the players are now Eclipse Lacrosse Club Alumni.


Sean Hickey - Assistant Coach

Sean Hickey is a former attackman at Salisbury University under the NCAA’s most winningest coach, Jim Berkman. In 2010, Hickey was awarded the NCAA Elite 88 Award at the DIII National Championship.  He transferred to UNC-Chapel Hill where he double majored in Economics and Italian. His Senior year, he became the Assistant Varsity Coach for the East Chapel Hill Lacrosse Team, leading them to the State Tournament. In 2013, he returned to his hometown as a volunteer Offensive Coach for Nationally Ranked Smithtown East on Long Island, where he coached 3 HS All-Americans.  In HS, he was named All-County, Smithtown East Captain and MVP in 2008, having led the team in points and assists. As a top player for the FCA U.S. National Team in 2007, he competed against Canada among the best HS players in North America.  

Hickey has coached top Select Teams, and has worked to grow the game internationally in Brazil, Italy and Ireland. He brings over 7 years of lacrosse coaching and training experience, to the Eclipse Program.
